How it works

  1. 1Sketch

Draw the profile in 2D with real measurements, constraints and symmetry.

  2. 2Model

Extrude, revolve, loft, add mechanical parts and edit by parameters.

  3. 3Assemble and test

Mates, joints, clearances, wind tunnel and print check.

  4. 4Make

Slice for your printer, export STL/3MF/STEP or a technical drawing.

“Partial” for Fusion and SOLIDWORKS in the browser/mobile refers to separate web products or viewer apps; for Fusion “free” means the personal-use license. CFD and slicing in those tools depend on extra modules or partner software. VectorPro works with meshes: STEP export uses planar faces and parameters cover the creation values of each feature.

Strengths and limits

VectorPro

Strengths

  • Opens instantly on any device and installs as an app
  • Design, assembly, slicer, drawing and CFD in one place
  • Slicing and heavy calculations run locally, free
  • Made for 3D printing, makers and classrooms

Limits

  • Mesh-based modeling (not a full B-rep kernel)
  • Parameters per feature, not a full constraint-driven history
  • No CAM or structural FEA
  • Very large models depend on the browser/GPU

Best for: Makers, 3D printing, classrooms, quick mechanical prototypes and presentations.

Tinkercad

Strengths

  • The easiest way to start in 3D
  • Excellent for schools, with Codeblocks and circuits
  • Free and in the browser

Limits

  • Basic precision and tools
  • No real sketches or advanced features
  • Not suited to complex mechanical design

Best for: Children, first steps in 3D and simple prints.

Fusion

Strengths

  • Parametric + direct modeling, assemblies and joints
  • Integrated CAM, simulation and generative design
  • Free license for personal use (limited)

Limits

  • Desktop install and a good computer
  • Steeper learning curve
  • Commercial use requires a subscription

Best for: Product design, CNC and advanced hobbyists.

SOLIDWORKS

Strengths

  • Industry standard, robust parametric modeling
  • Drawings, large assemblies, simulation (higher tiers)
  • Huge community and job market

Limits

  • Windows desktop software, heavy
  • Expensive commercial licenses
  • Long learning path

Best for: Professional mechanical engineering and industry.

Frequently asked questions

Is VectorPro free?

Yes. The Editor, the slicer, the wind tunnel and the Viewer are free. Saving projects in the cloud is a Premium feature granted by the administrator; slicer settings are saved in your account for any signed-in user.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It runs in recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. You can also install it as an app (PWA) from the Help menu and open it without internet.

Which 3D printers are supported?

33 ready profiles, including GTMax3D Core A1V2 and A2V2, Creality Ender 3 / V3 / K1, Bambu Lab A1, P1S and X1C, Prusa MK4 and CORE One, Elegoo Neptune 4, Anycubic Kobra 3, Sovol, QIDI and Voron — plus generic Marlin/Klipper and your own printers.

Is my model uploaded to slice it?

No. The Kiri:Moto slicer runs inside your browser (Web Workers). Your files stay on your device.

Can I pause the print at a layer?

Yes. Add pauses at any layer (M600, M0/M25, Klipper PAUSE or Bambu Lab pause) to insert magnets or nuts or to change the color.

What does the smart mode do?

It slices several candidates — the best orientations and fast, balanced or strong profiles — and shows the fastest option that keeps your goal, ready to apply.

Can I open STEP files?

Yes. STEP/IGES are imported with OpenCascade in the browser, and models can be exported to STEP to continue in SolidWorks, Fusion or FreeCAD.

Are my photos uploaded for the AI relief?

No. The image is processed in your own browser; only the AI model is downloaded once and cached.
